Chasing My Cure Movie

From Page to Screen: The National Bestselling Memoir, Chasing My Cure, Is Being Turned Into A New Film By The Oscar-Winning Producer of Forrest Gump and The Devil Wears Prada

We are so excited to share that Chasing My Cure is being turned into a film by Wendy Finerman (Forrest Gump) and Jonathan E. Lim, M.D. at City Hill Arts.

Though there is a long way to go to make the film before it hits the big screen, the film will tell the story of how David Fajgenbaum went from a beast-like quarterback at Georgetown to a young medical student given only six months to live. When he was diagnosed with a rare and deadly disease, Castleman disease, there was no known cure—so he decided to fight for one. He pulled together an unlikely team, challenged the status quo of medical research, and began a race to save his own life.

There were moments that feel straight out of a thriller—terrifying uncertainty, crushing setbacks, and a stubborn belief that hope could still win. He lost hope more than once. But kept going. That’s what this movie is about: the power of relentless determination, community, and choosing action in the face of impossible odds.

The script is being written by Amy Snow, and the project is in the incredible hands of producers Robin Jonas, Steven P. Wegner, Lisa Zupan, and executive producer Dr. Lim. The team at Every Cure and the University of Pennsylvania continues this mission every day—using AI and data to uncover new uses for existing drugs to save lives.

This movie is more than just David’s story—it’s for anyone who’s ever faced something overwhelming and thought, maybe there’s still a way forward. Check out the Press Release here.
